SARAS Expo 2022-A Boom For Women Entreprenuers

After two years of complete cut-oof from social-cultural activities, the city has organized its first big event- The SARAS Fair 2022. The SARAS Ajeevika Mela, which is known for promoting rural craftsmen and businesses, is returning for another season. Organized at the heart of the city in the police ground the fair has something for people of age groups. 

SARAS Ajeevika fair or the Sales of Articles of Rural Artisans Society Mela is organized by the government across the country. It is a venue for rural artists and entrepreneurs to showcase their work and skills, as well as a source of money for rural artists and artisans. The event has more than 100 entrepreneurs who are displaying their art and craft businesses on this platform, building on its prior success.

Inaugurated by the Member of parliament from Kangra Mr. Kishan Kapoor and deputy commissioner, Kangra Dr. Nipun Jindal on 21st March 2022. The ten-day-long cultural festival has self-help groups by women from across the country from bamboo art to beautiful Bengali sarees, from exceptional paintings to exclusive handicrafts, from healthcare to beauty products the fair has a spectrum of stalls. A boom for women entrepreneurs the fair is highly loved and appreciated by people who are coming to visit it in large inflow. The fair is a way to bring wonderful artisans to the limelight. From beauty products made out of goat milk to yummy pickles of veggies you didn’t even hear about the expo has really unique things for all of us to see.

You can also buy beautiful paintings(Kangra paintings, Guler paintings, etc.) by local artisans and knitted wollen to one and all. The space also has a few stalls catering to our health needs, from free medical check-ups to Ayurvedic medicine stalls you will find a lot of intriguing ones in the expo. 

The Fair also has live cultural performances by local artists happening throughout the fair. You will be mesmerized by the amazing performances by artists of all kinds, from Natti dancers to folk singers, from Punjabi rock stars to melodious Hindi Shayari artists the event has evenings lit by them all. It’s enjoyable to watch the traditional musicians perform their art, which brings the entire fair to life. You will not only enjoy the live drums and instruments, but you will also have the opportunity to connect with many regions of the state. 

If you are taking your kids along and want them to have fun, the fair has swings and children’s toys stalls too. They will not only keep your kids entertained but also help you enjoy the whole fair better.

The covid protocols are also effectively followed by everyone in the fair thereby making the place safe enough for everyone to roam around. To give your taste buds a tour of yummy-land the fair also has food stalls that will treat you with authentic delicacies like Siddu, Momos, Chat Papdri, Lassi, achar, Kadi chawal, Rajma chawal, Chinese cuisines, and lots more.

The Bureau of Public Relations and Communications, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, is hosting a digital multi-media display on the ‘Amrit Mahotsav of Azadi’ during the Saras Mela.
