The Person Behind This Guide

My name is Gourav Jaswal. I was born and raised in the Kangra Valley — the same mountains, monasteries, and fog-drenched mornings that thousands of travelers fly in to experience every year.

I started Dharamshala Guide because I kept seeing the same problem: tourists arriving with a list of generic recommendations from travel blogs written by people who had never actually been here. The “best restaurant” lists were outdated.
The taxi fare information was wrong. The hidden treks were never mentioned at all.

So I built a resource I wished had existed — a guide written by someone who actually lives here, eats here, and knows which road closes in monsoon season and which chai stall near McLeodganj Market has been there for 30 years.

I have been writing about Dharamshala, McLeodganj, Bir Billing, Palampur, and the wider Kangra region for years. To date I have published 130+ in-depth local guides covering everything from taxi fares and airport transfers to temple trails
